The Bust Algarve sculpture is a tribute to the wind, which is a sculptor, creator and destroyer of the forms of nature, and sometimes moves in a spiral, a form present in the work of Carmen Otero. The artist's entire sculptural production focuses on the theme of the head as a precious box that holds the most precious treasure: freedom of thought. The heads conceived by the artist are placed halfway between geometry and abstraction, born from the search for new forms. They arise from a draft and evolve into a clay mold, in a laborious process of adding and removing material, so that only what is needed remains. A lively fusion of order and chaos, of simplicity and complexity. An intuitive process in which Carmen Otero lets herself be carried away. They are serene, closed, immutable forms that show that human beings must not lose their essence and that invite them to maintain a balance in this world in constant crisis.
