Shake Chandelier in Shades of Blue Resin

Ask for quote

Shake is part of a new family of chandeliers that take shape from a seemingly random cascade of multicolored polycarbonate cubes. Extruded by hand, one by one, these infinitely repeated elements refract and transport light like ice cubes. The cubes are joined in pendants and arranged at different heights to create a dynamic and sinuous rhythm.
Jacopo Foggini, working for the family business, discovers the versatility of methacrylate, a material generally used in the production of car reflectors. Enchanted by the aesthetic and chromatic qualities of this thermoplastic resin, similar to glass but tremendously light, Foggini began experimenting with its use in the late 1990s. With a machine of his own invention, Foggini melts methacrylate, and then polycarbonate, at 200 ° C, transforming it into a filament that he then molds with his hands, creating luminous forms and monumental works: labyrinths of colored light, which blur the boundaries between art and drawing. “The speed of execution is almost the same as that of glass, however with my materials I can shape extremely light monumental works”.
