Floating Karst Side Table
Floating Karst is a side table produced by the Alcarol brand. It takes shape through the preservation of pieces of local stone, partially covered with native mosses and lichens, which bear witness to the passage of time.The surface of the table is covered with a transparent resin that recalls the appearance of water. When cross-sectioned, one can admire surprising shapes and cavities created by the action of water. This process freezes the instantaneousness of the present and gives the block a new and eternal functionality. Alcarol uses karst to develop the Floating Karst table, a geological phenomenon that occurs when acidic water begins to dissolve the surface of the rock, especially along cracks and crevices. This process develops over thousands of years and gives rise to unique features both on the surface and underground.
