The IC S1 suspension lamp by Flos is part of a collection that explores balance, conceived by Michael Anastassiades. Steel structure and diffuser in opal blown glass.A glass sphere, perfectly balanced on the edge of a steel stem: this is how IC S1 and the other lamps from the same Flos family were born. This beautiful suspension lamp seems to be descending from the ceiling with a regal and minimalist aura. Flos IC S1’s elegance lies in its simplicity and versatility, which make it perfect for residential and contract settings such as large office spaces, hotels, bars and restaurants. Created in 2014, the Flos IC collection is the fruit of an inspiration Anastassiades got while he was watching the performance of a juggler playing a dynamic number with spheres. Anastassiades’ creativity went beyond: he “fixed” the spheres and gave rise to an original collection of lamps, whose luminaire is elegantly suspended on a slender and linear support.“I came across an online video clip of a contact juggler. He was spinning a set of spheres, moving them around on his arms and edge of his fingers. And as I got mesmerized by the magic of his skill, suddenly the spheres look perfectly still. I wanted to capture that exact moment.
