In 1930, Alfonso Bialetti founded Bialetti, inventing the 'moka express' design, which today has become one of the most common and widely used coffee machines. In spring 2011, Alessi invited the designer Alessandro Mendini, and entrusted him with the arduous task of creating a tribute, asking him to design a new coffee maker for the company, the Moka Alessi . Thus, the Mendini Moka became a reinterpretation of its predecessor, formalising a contemporary design consisting of subtle curves.
