Toro Sofa
Toro is a sofa designed by Luigi Caccia Dominioni in 1973 for Azucena. Internal frame in tubular steel and steel profiles, padding in shaped polyurethane with different densities, polyester fiber lining. Base and studs in painted metal, wheels in painted aluminum, and plastic material. Cover in fabric or leather not removable.
The Toro seating collection was designed for the Monticello country club on the outskirts of Milan. The name is also the design intuition: "take the bull by the horns", the skeleton of the seat comes out of the padding, in the armrests at the ends protrude handles that allow you to move and rotate the armchair and sofa in total freedom in the room. In this way, the guests of the club could create a different environment every time, for conversation or to be quiet and alone.Caccia Dominioni may have been inspired by another reference: the legendary Sitting Bull, the Sioux leader who starred in many Italian films and comics of the 1960s and 1970s. Relaxation and dialogue are at the center of this project, a classic from the Seventies that insists - as a good Toro - not to age and not to want to go out of fashion.
