Wassily Chair Saddle Leather Black
Wassily is an armchair designed by Marcel Breuer for the Knoll brand. Made of curved tubular steel with a polished chrome finish and leather straps, it is upholstered in saddle leather.The Wassily armchair was designed in 1925, when Marcel Breuer was still an apprentice at the Bauhaus school. The armchair was created for the apartment of painter Wassily Kandinsky, a leading exponent of the Bauhaus, and is also known as Model B3. Inspired by a bicycle frame and the constructivist theories of the De Stjil movement, Breuer reduced the form of the classic club chair to its essentials. The Wassily chair is considered revolutionary for this reason, but also for its choice of materials such as bent steel tubing and production methods. Lightweight, sophisticated, and with clean lines, it is a true piece of modern design history for use in the living room as well as in offices and work spaces.
